Led, planned and implemented the enterprise cloud data architecture and data strategy, managing a team of 40 across DBAs, BI engineers, ETL developers, QA and reporting in multiple countries, supporting data and BI needs 24/7. Architected and supported an enterprise Snowflake data lake on AWS, with a Data Vault 2.0 warehouse modeled in Erwin and transformations built in Qlik Compose. Migrated and consolidated over 1,000 Crystal reports into SSRS, saving over $200K a year, and managed and deployed Power BI Reporting Servers for government services. Instituted SQL and Oracle security auditing, kept mission-critical applications at 100% reliability through upgrades, and served on the executive cyber security response and forensics team.

Managed and grew a team of 50 internal, consulting and offshore resources responsible for the enterprise data fabric. Initiated infrastructure as code across Snowflake, Azure DevOps, Azure infrastructure, Prefect orchestration and dbt. Migrated 3 legacy data warehouses using Informatica and Azure Data Factory, moved over 50 REST APIs to GraphQL on Apollo and Hasura, and saved over $2 million by migrating from Azure SQL to Snowflake. Built automated services for audit, balance and control, CI/CD, role-based access control, data masking, “right to be forgotten”, monitoring and data reconciliation, and administered Snowflake security and role-based access.
Regulatory compliance software provider
Led multiple engineering teams to design and deliver a metadata-driven enterprise data platform on Snowflake, dbt and AWS supporting 200+ customers. Architected a Data Vault-based warehouse and client-facing data marts powering Tableau and Power BI. Designed an AI-driven migration from legacy XML structures to JSON, moving over 50 enterprise customers to the modernized platform. Spearheaded AI adoption, deploying MCP agent infrastructure across Prefect, Airbyte, OpenMetadata and Metabase, and reduced offshore development resources from 20 to 5 while maintaining delivery velocity. Implemented OpenMetadata for data governance, CI/CD for dbt releases, and data quality, reconciliation and monitoring frameworks integrated with CloudWatch.
Public health software provider
Took the v2 rewrite of a public health surveillance and outbreak management platform to completion. Led the backend of a 2.0 rewrite of a biospecimen repository and sample tracking system, reworking the core schema so studies, record types, sample fields, aliquots and test results are configurable by users, and upgrading permissions, audit logging, imports and exports, and migration paths without breaking existing workflows. Added OpenTelemetry instrumentation routed into SigNoz across the company's surveillance products, plus unit and API tests for regression safety.
Clinical genomics laboratory
Built most of the front end for a new lab execution platform in about 7 weeks, from an empty repo to production lab workflows for a new lab site launch, including a scan-driven, hands-free workflow for sample receipt, processing and verification and a reusable lab-UI component library. Resolved a critical production incident where hundreds of patient assays were silently stuck for weeks: diagnosed an Oracle query-plan regression, shipped a fix that made the query about 1,500× faster with zero downtime, and recovered every affected assay. Led an Oracle performance initiative, organized an Observability Guild with Datadog monitoring and dashboards as code, and delivered a Kafka-to-REST migration.
Global prestige beauty company
Kept e-commerce sites running for 18 brands on a homegrown platform spanning a legacy Perl backend, Drupal, jQuery and React. Fixed a P1 bug where memcached fallback logic caused system-wide failures, built a tool to compare pages across Akamai, Varnish and internal caches, and closed a compliance gap that let shoppers exceed per-item purchase limits. Remediated XSS, SQL injection and PII-leak vulnerabilities, reduced frustration signals around PayPal Express Checkout by 80% across all 18 brands, and built Datadog monitoring for order failures after payment authorization.
Human capital software provider
Over 20 years at a fast-growing HR performance software company, rose to staff engineer and team lead, directing a team of 4 to 8 developers. Redesigned the configuration, back-end API and Vue.js front end for the core Survey and Dashboard modules, and launched new products from concept and architecture through deployment. Co-developed an AI Summary feature that automates qualitative feedback analysis in performance evaluations, and instituted automated data and metadata monitoring that cut development time, QA challenges and production issues by 80%. Managed annual penetration testing and remediation, and played a pivotal role in technical due diligence for the company's 2022 acquisition.

Managed a team of 20 ETL developers, data warehouse analysts, DBAs and consultants. Consolidated 5 brands into a single data warehouse and reporting solution, and built capacity planning BI across 5 data centers and over 3 million customers, with SSAS prediction models for infrastructure purchasing. Delivered a fail-safe BI portal with over 1,000 reports and SSAS cubes for over 1,500 users. Migrated financial reporting from Oracle Financials to Microsoft GP and SAS to SSIS and SSRS, saving over $500K a year, and automated an outbound telemarketing program of 30+ campaigns with federal and local Do Not Call compliance.
